magicJack.com offers a free 30-day trial of its magicJack Voice-over-IP (VoIP) service. After the trial, you will be charged $39.95 plus $6.95 for shipping. That's within a buck of the lowest price we've seen for one year of VoIP service, although QVC offered the magicJack for $10 less in August. (Most other VoIP companies charge $18 per month or more.) magicJack will send you a USB adapter to plug into your PC or Mac; just plug any phone line into the adapter and make normal phone calls.
