Toyota announced a voluntary recall of 7.4 million vehicles worldwide. The issue, which affects units sold from 2007 to 2009, affects the Power Window Master Switch (PWMS). According to Toyota "If commercially available lubricants are applied to the switch in an attempt to address the “notchy” or sticky feel, melting of the switch assembly or smoke could occur and lead to a fire under some circumstances." Toyota will begin mailing official recall notices to owners in late-October, and will repair this issue on affected cars at no charge.
