Forget simple noodles and water pistols. These inflatable slides, floats, and shooters will really make a splash this summer.
Hey, pool owners: If you bought a couple of rafts ten years ago and then stopped paying attention, boy, you've missed A LOT. Today's pool toys are so much more advanced than they used to be! (Some of them even require batteries!)
This summer, why not make your pool cool again? Check out ten of our favorite pool toys found on Amazon — from floating tiki huts to five foot pretzels — and just imagine how much sweeter swimming could be!
10 Awesome Pool Toys
This looks like something you'd normally have to rent at some hoity-toity water park. Float in your own "spaceship" while blasting everyone with a built-in water gun!(Since the water gun draws ammunition directly from the pool, you'll never run out of big wet ammo. Fun for the pilot… but maybe not so much for the other swimmers!)
We're not sure if you even need a pool to appreciate a five foot inflatable pretzel. The best part? The toy is large and sturdy enough to keep three swimmers afloat, so unless your pool is very well-populated, there won't be any wars over who gets to use the pretzel. (And let's face it — that's a battle no swimmer can afford to lose.)
If you equate "pool time" with "party time," this'll keep you from needing an exit strategy every time you want a cold one. The Intex Mega Chill II is an Amazon best seller, and it's easy to see why: You could fit 72 cans (with ice) in the main compartment, or simply drop a regular plastic cooler right into it! Oh, what convenience!
The reviews on this one are mixed, but who could resist rolling the dice on their very own floating tiki bar? With compartments for beverages and a "stay cool" canopy, it's more of an inflatable clubhouse than a "toy." If you're an adult who loves a good, chlorinated swim, this tropical behemoth is a great way to get your friends into the pool with you.
Night swimming is awesome, but here's a way to make it doubly great. This heavy duty raft contains 18 color-changing LED lights, effectively turning anyone who lays on it into some kind of alien star god. Hard to believe that three "AAA" batteries could deliver this much extravagance!
There are rafts, and then there are rafts. With a 650 pound weight limit and enough slots for eight kids, Labyrinth Island is complete madness. Akin to a comically oversized slice of swiss cheese, there's no limit to the adventure possibilities. Any pool float that looks like the human version of Whac-A-Mole gets an A+ from DealNews.
Relive your dorm days with this floating beer pong game, which comes complete with a cooler compartment, so you won't have to keep getting out of the pool for refills. This one is for adults only! (Well, we guess kids could try it, but "soda pong" just doesn't have the same ring to it.)
Remember how your old hamster seemed to find so much joy in running endlessly on that little wheel? Well, now you can see what all the fuss was about! Actually, this one is sized more for kids than adults, but if there's a better reason to go on a really aggressive diet than an inflatable Water Wheel, we haven't heard it.
If you're lucky enough to own an inground pool, you won't need to spend a fortune to equip it with a water slide. "Irrigated" by a garden hose, this is just one of many inflatable water slides that can do the job for far less money!
Oh man, we NEED this. A device that looks like a chlorine dispenser actually dispenses rainbows of light! Just imagine how enticing your pool would be with this thing blasting colors all over its floor and walls. It'd be like swimming in a lava lamp!
