Samsung Galaxy S5 vs. Galaxy the Unicorn: Which Is the Better Buy?

If you can only afford to buy one Galaxy this spring, how should you spend your money? Here's our side-by-side analysis.
Published

After months of speculation, hands-on looks at the Galaxy S5 have left most critics cautiously optimistic but underwhelmed. Calling Samsung's latest offering an "evolution, not revolution," Forbes said the Galaxy S5 has made some solid improvements over the S4 — but not enough to blow competitors like Apple out of the water.

Rather than rehashing the same side-by-side smartphone comparisons that you'll find at any tech blog, we decided to take a hard look at how the Galaxy S5 holds up against an industry leader that also bears the Galaxy name. We're talking, of course, about Ty Inc.'s Beanie Baby playmate, Galaxy the Unicorn.

Here's how these two giants compare!

As you can see from the chart above, the Galaxy S5 is a state-of-the-art smartphone that is resistant to water and dust, features a quad-core CPU, and runs on Android 4.4.2. However, Galaxy the Unicorn has sparkly fur, prances around on her little hooves, and who wants to be best friends with a stupid phone anyway?

Yes, it's "toilet safe"... but it will never be the same, after.

A product notice from TY:

Please note that Galaxy the Unicorn, while indeed possessing litte hooves, does not actually "prance". It was determined during market research that incorporating either the necessary prancing muscle & bone structure or an internal mechanical prancing mechanism would reduce Galaxy's cuddliness to approximately that of a sea urchin, so the prancing functionality was dropped. Be assured, however, that you can prance when holding her. You can do that holding the s5, but you'll look like a twit.

And to address Dealnews' concerns: TY can safely assert that Galaxy has a more ergonomic design than any other unicorn caught by non-virgins!

@netwolf Wow, I was not expecting to actually learn something today.

actually the s5 is toilet safe. Getting one just for that reason....seriously.

One also survives being thrown across the room better than the other, but neither is the same after a dunk in the toilet.

I wish this chart had included a form factor comparison... is the unicorn's design ergonomic?
