dealnews Will Match Up to $50,000 in donations for Haiti Relief

Published
As you know, a catastrophic magnitude-7.0 earthquake hit Haiti a little over a week ago. The sheer magnitude of the destruction and the aftermath are unimaginable, with over 200,000 people dead (that's more people than live in our hometown of Huntsville). The images flashing across your television screen are all too real, as is the urgent need for financial relief.

If I may, I respectfully request that you please use some of the money you've saved reading our sites to make a donation to Haiti earthquake relief. For every dollar you donate to the American Red Cross from today through February 11, dealnews will match 100%, up to $50,000. Our goal is to raise a total of $100,000 including yours and our donations.

How it works:

  • Make a donation online at RedCross.org
  • Keep your confirmation email and forward it to haiti@dealnews.com.
  • We'll match 100% of your donation until we hit our $50,000 limit or until February 11.
We're also asking for your help in spreading the word about our donation match. It's an opportunity for your friends, family and coworkers to double their donation. They don't even have to visit dealnews to donate, they can simply forward their receipts to haiti@dealnews.com.

As always, dealnews respects and protects your privacy.

Please note that we're only matching donations from today (January 21, 2010) onward to the Red Cross. If you've already made a donation this week, or prefer to donate to a different organization, I applaud you. But our matching donation is an attempt to encourage those who haven't made a donation yet, or to encourage those who've already given to "double their money" if they give more. We chose Red Cross because of its leadership as the world's premier disaster relief agency and our personal positive experiences with this organization.

Our goal is to raise a total of $100,000 for Haiti relief. We hope that you will consider making a donation and sincerely thank you for your contribution.

Yours truly,
Dan de Grandpre
CEO, dealnews.com, Inc.
