Whether you need to deck the halls or repair the walls, the Lowe's Black Friday sales have you covered. We've gathered up all the information on when to look for ads and how to save even more than advertised. Read on to save!
When Will the Ad Be Released?
Expect to see the ad in mid-November, unless the retailer wants to make another attempt at harnessing social media. In 2014, the store released its ad earlier in the month through Vine, but went with a standard release in 2015 — we guess Vine didn't pay off for them.
You can also expect an ad for Lowe's Pre-Black Friday Sale to be released around the same time. We expect that event to take place from November 17 to 23 (the Thursday before Thanksgiving through the day before Thanksgiving).
Will Lowe's Be Open on Thanksgiving?
Judging by last year? No. But you can expect a Thanksgiving Day online-only sale with early Black Friday deals. The free shipping minimum for last year's sale was $19, but bulky items may still require in-store pickup.
Doors Open at 5 am Friday
Doors opened at 5 am local time on Friday for the past two years, but many of the Black Friday deals were available online on Thanksgiving last year. That sale was live the entire day of Thanksgiving, which means eager shoppers may want to stay up late Wednesday night.
When to Score Deals
Early! With an excellent Pre-Black Friday Sale starting the week before and Black Friday deals going live on the Lowe's website as soon as Thanksgiving rolls around, you can probably get a lot of your Lowe's shopping done before you even start perusing other retailers.
That said, many of Lowe's Black Friday deals will be available through part of Cyber week. These deals may be worth waiting for, since Lowe's offered no-minimum free shipping on Cyber Monday last year.
Can't Miss Picks: Lowe's Top Black Friday Deals
Last year, Lowe's led off its Black Friday ad with tons of deals on Christmas decor, including a 6.5-foot pre-lit artificial tree for $59, over 50% off select Christmas lights, 30% off all ornaments, and a 1-quart live poinsettia for $1.
If Christmas isn't your celebration of choice — or you're already well-stocked on decor — fear not! Between its multi-page pre-Black Friday and Black Friday ads, you're sure to find a deal to tempt you. Last year many DealNews readers bagged a 36-pack of AA or AAA batteries for $6, a 24-pack of Angel Soft toilet paper for $7, a 4-foot fiberglass step ladder for $20, a Bosch 21-piece impact driver bit set for $7, and much more.
Special Tips for Shopping the Lowe's Black Friday Sale
Check the Lowe's website early. Set your alarm for midnight on Thanksgiving Day, as many Black Friday deals will be actually available during this one-day online sale.
Check more than Lowe's Black Friday ad! Lowe's has a price-match-plus-10% guarantee. What does that mean? If you see an item in a competitor's ad, and then find that exact same item at Lowe's and show them the competitor's ad, you'll get 10% under the competitor's price. (For example, if Home Depot advertised a tool set for $100, and you found it at Lowe's, you could likely pay only $90.)
This doesn't apply to everything — Lowe's won't price-match installation, special order, or clearance items, for example — but it's definitely worth a shot!
Save an extra 5% with a Lowe's credit card. Not much else to it — if you're willing to get a store credit card, you'll get this extra discount on any purchase you don't use special financing for. With the craziness of Black Friday, you should probably apply for this card in advance if you're interested.
Don't forget military discounts if you're eligible! Currently serving and retired service members (and their immediate family members) can present a valid military ID card to get 10% off. Veterans who receive VA benefits are also eligible if they present a valid Veteran Identification card. (Note: This discount doesn't apply to some items, such as gift cards.)
Buy discounted gift cards in advance to increase your savings. Sites like Raise.com often offer discounts of 5% to 10% off Lowe's gift cards. Of course, if you don't find a tempting deal, you're stuck with the card, so make sure you have a plan before you purchase.
