Email and Social Media Marketing Manager
DealNews is looking for an Email & Social Media Marketing Manager to join our Marketing team, one of the fastest-growing departments in the organization. We're looking for a creative, highly analytical marketer to lead and execute the engagement strategy for our email and social marketing efforts, driving a best-in-class user experience. A positive attitude is a must. This position will be located in our New York (Manhattan) office.
Oversee the planning, scheduling, QA and execution of all email campaigns.
Develop testing strategies for subject lines, creative presentation, template formats, personalization, etc.; analyze results and make actionable recommendations for improvements.
Perform analyses across campaigns and segments to track trends in email delivery, open rates, response rates, and segment performance.
Become a "power-user" of our current email service provider's tools.
Maintain email calendar, working with internal stakeholders to schedule campaigns to support their initiatives.
Work directly with internal and external creative resources to develop engaging creative for marketing campaigns.
Stay abreast of the competitive landscape and maintain a monthly analysis of direct competitors.
This is a very new area of responsibility at DealNews, so you will be charged with defining and developing a viable social media strategy for the brand.
Run all social media activities for DealNews across multiple social networks (including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and More).
Benchmark and research competitor and industry leaders in social media. Constantly explore and evaluate new social platforms, tools, services and vendors and provide recommendations to director.
Conduct research to identify potential ambassadors and influencers on social media platforms and reach out to them.
Monitor social media and press for celebrity fans of the brand.
Keep teams and internal partners abreast of breaking industry news, best practices and new digital trends. Be a social media/digital marketing evangelist for brand.
Your first year should look like this:
In your first month, you will work very closely with the Senior Director of Email Marketing to develop a basic understanding of our business and how it works, especially as it pertains to the email marketing program. By the end of your first month, you will be expected to have developed a working knowledge of our ESP and assume responsibility for the deployment of all email communications.
By the end of your second month, you will have become the primary point of contact for the retention portion of the email marketing program, with a very strong understanding of our user base and content offering. In the coming months, you will lead the testing & learning agenda to optimize current email products and campaigns.
In your third month, you will begin defining and developing a social media strategy for DealNews. This will require working with stakeholders across different teams. This strategy will be presented to management by the end of your third month.
Throughout your role, you will work closely with the Content team to develop programs and initiatives to drive member retention, the Business Development team to develop and support monetization opportunities, and the Development team to build and implement the analytics and tools to support your efforts.
When you finish up your first year, you will have successfully developed, implemented and managed the company's retention marketing programs through email and social media to create a great customer experience and deliver against KPIs.
Ability to use data to identify when and how to engage customers throughout their journey, anticipating their needs, addressing their pain points, and enhancing their experience.
Have relevant experience with email marketing, including working directly in an ESP.
A working knowledge of HTML.
Have a solid understanding of the social media landscape, including experience with different platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, etc).
Strong project management skills and an ability to partner with multiple cross functional teams.
Creative thinker who can brainstorm innovative ideas/strategies to support brand initiatives with focus on editorial storytelling, influencers and consumer engagement.
Have a passion for continuous testing.
Not afraid to take chances and has the ability to learn from failure.
Required Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Marketing preferred.
