There are three instances of the store being closed outright for a holiday, one instance of the store being open for longer than usual, and one day when the hours are both shifted and reduced. But outside of those exceptions, Kohl's store hours are Kohl's store hours, 9am to 10pm, steady and stable like a Creedence Clearwater Revival rhythm section. But let's hash out the details, just for the fun of it.

New Year's Day - 9am to 10pm

We'll start as we mean to go on: with Kohl's opening on this holiday for its regular hours – a fine way to celebrate a new year. Should old acquaintance be forgot and Kohl's Lang Syne, that's what we're all singing.

Presidents' Day - 9am to 10pm

Kohl's has to open for its normal hours on Presidents' Day, because what if the president wanted to go to Kohl's and then some poor store manager had to explain that they were closed because of Presidents' Day? Better to just dodge the situation entirely and keep regular hours.

Easter Sunday - Closed

Now don't get cross. We have to allow the staff at Kohl's some guaranteed holidays, and they've put in a full shift across New Year's and Presidents' Day to earn this. You can amuse yourself with some TV or crocheting, or if you insist, shopping online at Kohls instead.

Easter Monday - 9am to 10pm

Right back to it: regular hours, 9am to 10pm, like nothing ever happened. But we all know it did, and in some ways, we respect them more for it.

Memorial Day - 9am to 10pm

Not hard to commit these hours to memory: they're the same ones as ever. By sheer dint of repetition, by the end of this article, you'll remember little else.

4th of July - 9am to 10pm

It's the aforementioned Independence Day. Welcome to Earth, where Kohl's opens from 9am to 10pm.

Halloween - 9am to 10pm

Boo! Did I scare you? No, I didn't, only change scares you. Luckily, Kohl's opening hours don't change at all for Halloween, so you're safe on this particular day, but rest assured, change is inevitable, and the sooner you come to terms with it, the happier you'll be in the long run. Namaste.

Thanksgiving Eve - 9am to 10pm

It's every turkey's second least favorite day of the year, but not because they're confused about Kohl's opening hours, which remain as constant and reliable as a dutiful 18th-century butler.

Thanksgiving - Closed

And just like that, Kohl's is Klohsed. It's a terrible internal misunderstanding of their own store name, but we'll allow it, because we're too busy with the turkeys who were so miserable yesterday on account of being dinner today.

Black Friday - 5am to 10pm

Surprise! To make up for yesterday's debacle, Kohl's opens at the frankly fictional time of 5am. No way that hour actually exists. We'll do some more research and update.

Christmas Eve - 7am to 6pm

Christmas Eve sees Kohl's open two hours early, and close four hours early. This is to see if you've been paying attention, or if you tuned out after the third "9am to 10pm" of this article.

Christmas Day - Closed

Closed again! And speaking as a friend, I sincerely hope you have plans for the holidays that don't involve being in a department store. But if you absolutely require some Kohl's in your stocking, its online store should remain fully functional.

How Does Kohl's Holiday Shopping Differ From Regular Shopping?

The main difference between holiday shopping and regular shopping is probably most noticeable in the big sales of the year, which tend to fall around holidays. Christmas, Independence Day, and Black Friday aren't just the family get-togethers they were before, now they're bustling centers of discounted shoppery. But what about those holiday returns? What of the price matching policy?

Return Policy

Kohl's return window for most purchases is a very generous 180 days. Basically a full half of a calendar year. Notable exceptions are beauty purchases (including Sephora), which are "limited" to 60 days, and premium electronics and watches have but a 30-day window. But hark! The holiday season brings a reprieve – premium electronics, watches, and Sephora items purchased after November 1  can be returned until January 31.

Price Matching

Kohl's stores match prices from competing stores (so long as you can provide a local ad for the other store proving the price), but not from wholesale stores like Costco or Sam's Club, or from competing websites. (They will match Kohl's own website should you find a disparity.) As for online Kohl's purchases, they'll match competing websites (non-wholesale retailers with physical stores and online presence) so long as the price is verifiable. But! Alas, and indeed alack, and for the Kathy lovers out there, ack! During the week Thanksgiving, and the following Cyber Week, price matching is suspended. This is to add a fun frisson of exciting commitment to each discounted purchase.

Curbside Pickup

Kohl's stopped offering curbside pickup in late 2022. But they do offer self-pickup; once you get the email confirming your order is ready for pickup, take your phone to the self-pickup area and click the "open pickup pass" link.
