This Week's Rumor Roundup: Apple, Nintendo, Sony

Published
It's a real moonage daydream:
  • Wii 2, with Blu-ray, coming in 2011?
I had this horrible nightmare: I woke up, checked the Internet for rumors, and realized I had magically been transported back to 2009. I meet the Frog Prince, who hands me an enchanted sword and says the only way to get back to my own time is to find and defeat the evil wizard who cast this spell on me. Well, it's either that, or the web is dredging up old news again, but I'm keeping the sword.
  • Duke Nukem Forever not dead?
But the world's interest in the game is. So the universe is still in balance.
  • Apple holding an iPod event next week?
If they wait too long to send out invites, they run the risk of people not being able to come. Just like how it happened at my last birthday party ... PITY ME!
  • Apple TV now called iTV, runs apps?
UK-based, Hulu-like service iTV has complained, "Well really, man! This is simply NOT done! I shall ring up my solicitors! Clink." (That last bit was the sound of a pince-nez falling into a cup of PG Tips.)
  • Palm working on a tablet with detachable cellphone?
Detachable cellphone. This comes in handy a lot of the time. I can leave it home when I think it's gonna get me in trouble, or I can rent it out when I don't need it. But now and then I go to a party, get drunk, and the next morning I can't for the life of me remember what I did with it. Detachable cellphone.
  • Nintendo almost developed a cellphone?
Wow. Yeah. What a HUGE mistake that would have been! What gaming company is stupid enough to do such a silly, foolish, wasteful thing like that?!
  • Sony working on a PSP phone?
Right. Sony: Always the answer to, "Who is stupid enough to [X]?"
Jeff Somogyi is the dealnews Media Editor. He is always the answer to "Who IS that handsome man?!" ("No, the one BEHIND Jeff!") Read more of his mistaken identities @dzheough on Twitter.
