As I’m sure you’re aware, the north coast of Japan was hit by a horrific tsunami following an 8.9 magnitude earthquake that struck 80 miles offshore on March 11, 2011. News agencies are reporting that the earthquake was the largest ever recorded since record-keeping began in the late 1800s. At least hundreds of people have perished as a result, and the subsequent tsunami has affected people thousands of miles away from the epicenter.
We’re asking for your assistance to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. For every dollar you donate to the American Red Cross "Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami" Disaster Relief Fund
from today through March 31, 2011, dealnews will match 100 percent, up to $25,000
Please help us spread the word by sharing this message via email, on Facebook profiles, via Twitter, whatever way you see fit. Our goal is to raise a total of $50,000: $25,000 from our wonderful readers and $25,000 from us.
Here’s how it works:
- Make a donation online at American Red Cross, choosing "JAPAN EARTHQUAKE AND PACIFIC TSUNAMI"
- Keep your confirmation email and forward it to JapanRelief@dealnews.com.
- We'll match 100 percent of your donation until we hit our $25,000 limit, or until March 31.
- If you like, click "Share" button (below) to spread the news via Facebook and "Tweet" to share via Twitter.
As always, dealnews respects and protects your privacy.
Please note that we're only matching donations from today (March 11, 2011) onward to the American Red Cross. If you've made a previous donation to ARC, or prefer to donate to a different organization, I applaud you. But our matching donation is an attempt to encourage those who haven't made a donation yet, or to encourage those who've already given to "double their money" if they give more. We chose the American Red Cross because of its leadership as the world's premier disaster relief agency and our personal positive experiences with this organization.
Our goal is to raise a total of $50,000
for Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami relief. We hope that you will consider making a donation. On behalf of everyone here at dealnews, I sincerely thank you for your contribution.
